Abstract:

The aim of this research is to develop a measuring tool for psychological consultants working in the field of mental health to measure the level of compassion fatigue. The study group consists of a total of 725 (518 women and 207 men) psychological consultants. The study revealed the psychometric characteristics of the scale by calculating the disclaimer factor analysis, verifying factor analysis, measurement-related validity, Cronbach alpha internal consistency value and substance analysis. A four-dimensional scale of 21 substances, which describes 53% of the total variance, was achieved as a result of the opening-factor analysis. The scale factor load varies between .504 and .781. The four-dimensional structure of the scale was tested by conducting verifying factor analysis on a different sample group. The analysis found that the compatibility between the model and the data was acceptable (χ2=315.43, p=.000, sd=181, χ2/sd=1.74, CFI=.91, TLI=.90, SRMR=.05, RMSEA=.06). The measurement’s substance estimate values range from .39 to .80. In addition, the measurement-related validity study with a different sampling has also found statistically meaningful relationships. Analysis of reliability calculated the Cronbach alpha internal consistency ratio .890 and the Guttman ratio .872 for the general scale. For the subdimensions, the Cronbach alpha internal consistency value is between .683 and .836 . Similarly, the Guttman ratio for lower dimensions varies between .612 and .837 . When calculated the total correlation values of the matter relating to the measurement, it was determined that the values were between .374 and .701. All of these findings are as evidence that the measurement of compassion fatigue in the Psychological Consultants is a valid and reliable measurement tool. The results obtained in the study are discussed and interpreted with regard to the research field.
