Abstract:

The tourism sector, throughout history, has been progressing and transforming which reflects the choices of the types of tourism and increases the interest in ecotourism. Ecotourism is a sustainable form of tourism which protects the environment, advocates the welfare of the local people and is sensitive towards natural resources. According to the 2023 Tourism Strategy of Turkey; it is imperative to choose alternative tourism types to eliminate the regional differences and to reach the target of spreading tourism throughout the year. Within the scope of the research inventory and other ecotourism areas created in the Nature Master Plan of Giresun Province have been examined. Giresun province has a rich potential because of its geo-location as well as its values relating to tourism. At the same time, Giresun province, because of the innumerable natural beauty spots it has, is a very important tourist destination for eco-tourists who desire to get to know the local culture, authentic values and integrate with nature. In addition to the existence of eco-tourism villages in Giresun province, this study suggests that within the scope of eco-tourism, many activities such as nature walks, bicycle tourism, photo safari, cave tourism, camping, orienteering, bird watching, agro-tourism, botanic tourism, paragliding, horse trekking can be introduced
