AMAÇ: Beden eğitimi öğretmenleri okullarda sıklıkla ilk yardım müdahaleleri ile karşılaşmaktadır. Bilinçli ve eğitim almış kişilerce yapılan ilk yardım uygulamalarının hayat kurtardığı ve iyileşmeyi hızlandırdığı bilinen bir gerçektir. Bunun için beden eğitimi öğretmenlerinin iyi bir ilk yardım bilgisine sahip olmaları gerekmektedir. Literatürde gerek aday gerekse de aktif görevdeki beden eğitimi öğretmenlerinin ilk yardım bilgi düzeyleri ile ilgili sınırlı sayıda bilgi bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı Afyonkarahisar özelinde beden eğitimi ve spor öğretmenliği bölümünde okuyan öğrencilerin ilk yardım bilgi düzeylerinin belirlenmesidir. GEREÇ VE YÖNTEM: Çalışmaya Afyon Kocatepe Üniversitesi, Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Yüksekokulu, Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Öğretmenliği Bölümünde okuyan 120 öğrenci (yaş: 20,64±1,74) gönüllü olarak katılmıştır. Katılımcıların %36,7’sini kadın öğrenciler oluştururken %63,3’ünü ise erkek öğrencilerden oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada katılımcılara iki bölümden oluşan anket çalışması yaptırılmıştır. Birinci bölüm 13 sorudan oluşan katılımcıların demografik özellikleri ve tanımlayıcı özelliklerini belirlemeye yardımcı olan sorulardan oluşurken, ikinci bölüm 16 adet çoktan seçmeli sorudan oluşan ve katılımcıların ilk yardım bilgi düzeylerini belirlemeye yardımcı olan bilgi sorularından oluşmaktadır. Çalışmada verilerin normal dağılım göstermesinden (Kolmogorov Smirnov) gruplar arası karşılaştırmalar için bağımsız değişken t testi ve ANOVA testleri uygulanmıştır. Verilerin ortalama ve standart sapma değerlerinin yanında frekans ve yüzde değerleri tespit edilmiştir. Bunun yanında karşılaştırmalarda etki genişliği Cohen d standartlarına göre hesaplanmıştır. BULGULAR: Çalışma sonunda, Afyon Kocatepe Üniversitesi Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Öğretmenliği bölümü öğrencilerine uygulanan anket sonuçlarına göre ailesinde sağlık personeli olanlar (11,07±9,63), daha önce ilk yardım kursu alanlar (10,86±2,41) ve ilk yardım sertifikası olanların (okulda 11,53±2,48) sorulara daha çok doğru yanıt verdikleri görülmüştür. Bununla beraber, tüm katılımcıların 16 bilgi sorusundan 10,16±1,93’una doğru cevap verdiği ve başarı oranının %63,5 olduğu tespit edilmiştir. SONUÇ: Afyon Kocatepe Üniversitesi Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Öğretmenliği bölümü öğrencilerinin ilk yardım bilgilerinin orta düzeyde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bu bulgular ışığında yükseköğrenim kapsamında verilen ilk yardım derslerinin ders saatlerinin arttırılmasının yanında, beden eğitimi öğretmeni olarak atanan adayların adaylık süresince konusunda uzman kişiler tarafınca ilk yardım dersinin uygulamalı olarak verilmesi tarafımızca önerilmektedir.
Objective: Physical education teachers often face first aid interventions in schools. It is well known that first aid practices by conscious and well educated people save lives and help recovery. Therefore, physical education teachers need to have good first aid knowledge. In the literature, there is limited information about first aid knowledge levels of both candidate and active physical education teachers. The aim of this study is to determine first aid knowledge levels of students studying physical education and sports teaching in Alicante. MATERIAL AND METHODS: 120 students (age: 20.64±1.74) who were participated from Afyon Kocatepe University, School of Physical Education and Sports, Department of Physical Education and Sports Teaching voluntarily. while 36. 7% of the participants are female students, 63.3% are male students. In this study, a questionnaire consisting of two parts was applied to the participants. The first section consists of 13 questions to help determine the demographic characteristics and descriptive characteristics of the participants, while the second section consists of 16 multiple choice questions and information questions that help determine the level of first aid knowledge of the participants. In the study, independent sample t test and ANOVA tests were applied for comparisons between groups due to normal distribution of data (Kolmogorov Smirnov). Besides the average and standard deviation values, frequency and percentage values of the data were determined. In addition, the effect was calculated according to Cohen d standards. RESULTS: At the end of the study, according to the results of the questionnaire applied to the students of Physical Education and Sports Teaching Department of Afyon Kocatepe University, those who have health officials in their families (11.07±9.63), who have taken first aid course (10.86±2.41) and first aid certificate. (11.53±2.48 in school) were found to be more accurate answers to the questions. On the other hand, it was found that all participants answered 10.16±1.93 of the 16 information questions and the success rate was 63.5%. CONCLUSIONS: As a result, first aid knowledge of Afyon Kocatepe University Physical Education and Sports Teaching Department students were found to be medium level. In light of these findings, in addition to increasing the hours of first aid courses within the scope of higher education, it is recommended that the first aid courses be given by the experts who are appointed as physical education teachers by the experts during their candidacy.
