Osmanlı Sultanı II. Abdülhamid İstanbul’un su ihtiyacını karşılamak amacıyla Hamidiye Suyu Tesisleri’ni yaptırmıştır. Hamidiye Suyu Tesisleri inşa ediliyorken, isale hattı üzerinde su terazileri ve çeşmeler de yapılmıştır. Çeşmeler Birinci Ulusal Mimarlık üslubuna uygum olarak tasarlanmıştır. Söz konusu çeşmeler tip proje olarak yapılmıştır ve iki gruba ayrılır: mermer çeşmeler ve dökme demir çeşmeler. Mermer çeşmeler duvar çeşmesi tipolojisindedir. Dökme demir çeşmeler, Sanayi devriminden sonra Avrupa’da demirin inşaat alanında kullanılmasının etkisiyle yapılmıştır. Hamidiye Suyu isale hattı üzerinde de tip proje olarak, Belçika’dan sipariş edilen döküm çeşmeler yapılmıştır. Bu çeşmelere font çeşmeler de denir. Döküm çeşmeler ise meydan çeşmesi tipindedir. Çalışmada dökme demir çeşmelerden Göztepe Hamidiye Çeşmesi’nin ele alıp değerlendirmek amaçlanmıştır. Bu çalışma yapılırken yerinde tespitler yapılmış, çeşmelerle ilgili yayınlar incelenmiş ve arşiv belgelerinden yararlanılmıştır. Giriş bölümünde Göztepe bölgesinin tarihi, Hamidiye Suyu ve döküm çeşmelere değinilmiştir. Çalışmanın ana bölümünde ise çeşmenin banisi, mimarı, tasarımcısı, mimari özellikleri ve süsleme özellikleri incelenmiştir. Buna ek olarak, ana bölümde çeşmenin özgün tasarım özelliklerine değinilmiştir. Söz konusu çeşmenin arşivlerde bulunan çizimlerinde, Bertier olarak sanatçısının ismi yazmaktadır. Bertier Hamidiye Suyu Tesisleri’nde görev alan bir mühendistir. Değerlendirme ve sonuç bölümünde de söz konusu çeşme dönem çeşmeleriyle birlikte değerlendirilecektir. Çeşme, bani, mimar, plan, cephe ve süsleme özellikleri açısından Birinci Ulusal Mimarlık Dönemi’nin diğer çeşmeleriyle karşılaştırılmıştır. Dönem çeşmelerinin içindeki yeri ve önemi hakkında değerlendirmeler yapılmıştır.
Ottoman Sultan Abdülhamid II built the Hamidiye Water Facilities in order to meet the water needs of Istanbul. While the Hamidiye Water Facilities were constructed, water scales and fountains were also built on the transmission line. The fountains were designed in First National Architecture style. These fountains were built as type projects and are divided into two groups: marble fountains and cast iron fountains. Marble fountains are of the wall fountain typology. Cast iron fountains were built with the effect of the use of iron in construction in Europe after the Industrial Revolution. Cast iron fountains ordered from Belgium were built on the Hamidiye Water transmission line as a type project. These fountains are also called font fountains. Cast iron fountains are of the square fountain type. In this study, it is aimed to discuss and evaluate Göztepe Hamidiye Fountain, one of the cast iron fountains. While conducting this study, on-site determinations were made, publications on fountains were examined and archival documents were utilized. In the introduction, the history of Göztepe region, Hamidiye Water and cast fountains are mentioned. In the main part of the study, the fountain's owner, architect, designer, architectural features and ornamental features are analyzed. In addition, the original design features of the fountain are mentioned in the main section. In the drawings of the fountain in the archives, the name of the artist is written as Bertier. Bertier was an engineer working at the Hamidiye Water Facilities. In the evaluation and conclusion section.
