Abstract:

In this study, examples of child reality included in the cartoon named Niloya were identified. Through these examples, it is intended to determine the fact that the child’s reality is more related to “which subjects”, where “in what circumstances” it occurs, where it is produced according to “which reasons” and by whom it is ended” and thus to contribute to the field. In this study in which the quality research method was adopted, document review and content analysis were used for data analysis. The study discussed the episodes of "Niloya", which was published on the TRT Children's Channel and received the most watched cartoon award. The study included 79 episodes on Niloya’s website and 32 new episodes, which were not found on this site but were determined to be published on TRT Children’s Channel until the middle of March 2018, in total 111 episodes were reviewed. In 20 of these sections (%18) 23 children’s reality examples have been identified. These examples, according to their themes, “with nature, objects, abstract concepts (collection, interest/love) etc.” It was seen to be related. In the light of the results obtained in the Niloya cartoon, child reality appears "in the case of first encounter with something; in the case of subjective thinking/non-thinking; in the case of need to solve a problem that is encountered", often due to the lack of scientific knowledge, the lack of conceptual knowledge, and the undeveloped abstract thinking ability.
