Kelime kökü “Siyon” sözcüğüne dayanan Siyonizm, bir kavram olarak Yahudi halkının “tarihî yurtlarına dönüşü” anlamında kullanılmakta olup bu anlamda siyasi Siyonizm Filistin’de bir Yahudi devleti kurmayı kendisine hedef olarak tayin eden siyasî hareketi işaret etmektedir. Siyasi Siyonizm, 1948 yılında hedefine ulaşmış ve Filistin toprakları üzerinde bir Yahudi devleti kurulmuştur. Bu tarihten sonra siyasi Siyonizm bölgede önemli bir sorun kaynağı teşkil etmiş, pek çok yazar ve düşünür Siyonizm konusunda çeşitli çalışmalar yapmışlardır. 20.yy’da Siyonizm üzerine çalışan ve eser veren en önemli düşünürlerden biri Siyonizm’e olan karşıtlığı ile bilinen ve hayatının ilerleyen bir evresinde kendisine din olarak İslam’ı seçen ünlü Fransız düşünür Roger Garaudy’dir. Bu makalede Garaudy’nin siyasi Siyonizm’le ilgili tartışmaları ele alınacak, Garaudy’nin hem bir siyasi doktrin hem de bir siyasi hareket olarak Siyonizm’le ilgili görüşleri incelenecektir.
