Abstract: This research was carried out to examine the attitudes of the secondary school students studying in rural areas towards physical education and sports lessons. In our research, the "Survey" model, one of the quantitative research models, was used. The sample group of the research; In the 2021-2022 academic year, it consists of a total of 332 students, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students, studying in rural secondary schools in the Karapınar district of Konya province. The personal information form created by the researcher and the "Physical Education and Sports Attitude Scale" developed by Demirhan and Altay (2001) were used as data collection tools in the research. The scale consists of a total of 24 items, 12 of which are positive and 12 are negative. The Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficient of the scale was found to be 0.90. In the analysis of the research data, frequency analysis was used to determine the percentage distribution of the demographic information of the participants. It was checked with Kolmogorov Smirnov test whether the scores obtained from the attitude scale used were normally distributed, and it was determined that the data showed normal distribution. Therefore, parametric tests from basic statistics were used. One-way anova test was applied to determine the effect of class, gender, regular sports status on attitudes towards physical education and sports lessons. As a result of the research, when the gender, class and regular sports status of secondary school students studying in rural areas were evaluated, it was observed that they had a positive attitude towards physical education and sports lessons. A statistically significant difference was found according to the gender variable (p<0.05). This difference is in favor of female students. When the variables of class and regular exercise were examined, no significant difference was found (p>0.05)
