Türkiye'de Argümantasyon İle İlgili Yapılan Lisansüstü Tezlerin İncelenmesi

Abstract:

Öğrencilerin akademik ve sosyal yaşamlarında bilinçli ya da farkında olmadan kullandıkları argümanlar ve argümantasyon süreci ile ilgili yapılan oldukça fazla bilimsel çalışma mevcuttur. Bu çalışmanın amacı, 2013 ve 2017 yıllarında revize edilen öğretim programlarında yer alan ve önemi gün geçtikçe artan argümantasyon ile ilgili Türkiye’deki durumu açıklayabilmektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda da temeli doğru ve etkili iletişim kurabilmek ve tartışabilmek olan argümantasyon ile ilgili yapılan lisansüstü çalışmaların yöneliminin ne olduğu belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Çalışma, nitel bir araştırma olup veriler tematik içerik analizi (meta-sentez) tekniği kullanılarak çözümlenmiştir. Veriler Yüksek Öğretim Kurumu Ulusal Tez Merkezi veritabanı aracılığıyla elde edilmiştir. Çalışmaya 2000 ile 2020 yılları arasında yayınlanan tezler dahil edilmiştir. Çalışmada, erişimi izinli durumda olan toplam 243 yüksek lisans ve doktora tezine ulaşılmıştır. Yapılan analizler sonucunda argümantasyon ile ilgili çalışmaların son yıllarda artış gösterdiği; çoğunlukla fen bilimleri alanında, ortaokul düzeyinde öğrenim gören öğrencilerle veya öğretmenlerle ve eğitim bilimleri enstitülerinde yürütüldüğü; yapılan tezlerin çoğunun yüksek lisans tezi olduğu ve çalışmalarda çoğunlukla nicel araştırma yöntemlerinin kullanıldığı sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır. Argümantasyonun doğasına daha uygun olması ve daha derinlemesine bilgi vermesi açısından bundan sonra yapılacak olan çalışmalarda nitel araştırmalar üzerine yoğunlaşılması önerilebilir.

The examination of the Graduate Thesis in Turkey with Argumentation

There are quite a lot of scientific studies on the arguments and the argumentation process that students use consciously or unconsciously in their academic and social lives. The aim of this study is to be able to explain the situation in Turkey with regard to the increasing argumentation of the importance of the curriculum included in the revised curriculum in 2013 and 2017. In line with this objective, the foundation was also tried to determine what the direction of the graduate studies related to the argumentation that can be established and discussed correctly and effectively. The study is a qualitative research and the data is analyzed using the thematic content analysis (meta-sentez) technique. The data was obtained through the Higher Education Institute's National Thesis Center database. The study included the theses published between 2000 and 2020. In the study, a total of 243 master's and doctoral theses were achieved with access permitted. The results of the analyses have found that the studies on argumentation have increased in recent years; mostly in the field of science, with students studying at high school level or with teachers and educational sciences institutions; most of the theses were master theses and mostly quantitative research methods were used in the studies. In view of the nature of the argumentation and providing more detailed information, it may be recommended that the studies that will be carried out afterwards focus on quality research.

There are many scientific studies on the arguments that students use in their academic and social lives and the argumentation process. The aim of this study is to explain the situation in Turkey regarding argumentation, which is included in the Science Curriculum updated in 2013 and 2018 and whose importance is increasing day by day. For this purpose, it has been tried to determine the orientation of the postgraduate studies on the argumentation process, which is based on being able to communicate and discuss correctly and effectively. In the study, a total of 243 master's and doctoral theses, whose access was allowed, were reached. As a result of the analyzes made, it is seen that studies on argumentation have increased in recent years; mostly in the field of science, with students or teachers studying at secondary school level and in educational sciences institutes; It has been concluded that most of the theses conducted at the graduate stage and that mostly quantitative research methods are used in the studies. In terms of being more appropriate to the nature of the argumentation and providing more in-depth and rich information, it can be suggested to focus on qualitative research in future studies.
