Abstract:

Human beings have been interacting with nature since they came into existence. It has caused excessive use of natural environments to meet the needs of rapidly growing populations, along with the past Agriculture and Industrial Revolution, which has increased human pressure on the environment. Management and planning has started to be carried out to reduce the pressure on the environment and to sustainably transfer natural resources to future generations. This study was carried out in the Mediterranean Region at the Lake Salda Basin, which is located within the boundaries of the Lakes region. First, a detailed literature study was conducted in the field of Lake Salda Basin and integrated basin management. The geological, geomorphological (morphology, slope and flux state), hydrographic, climatological, soil, land and land use of the basin using field work and Geographic Information Systems (CBS) were examined in detail in order to determine the current state of the natural environment conditions of Lake Salda Basin. In order to determine the human environment conditions, population, economy (agriculture and livestock) data were obtained and interpreted by the relevant institutions and organizations. Possible problems arising from the interaction between the characteristics of natural environment conditions and the characteristics of human conditions have been identified. With all the data obtained as a result of the study, suggestions were made for an integrated watershed management plan in a way that would ensure the social, cultural and economic development of the Salda Lake Basin, taking into account the natural and socio-economic factors.
