Araştırma konusunu, Erzurum’un Tortum ilçesi sınırlarında bulunan Kireçli Mahallesi Harabelik mevkiinde su isale hattı kazısında ortaya çıkan damgalı mezara taşı oluşturmaktadır. Damgalar eski kültürlerin öğrenilmesinde, kabile ve boy adlarının ortaya çıkarılmasında en önemli öğelerden biridir. Bunlar taş, kilim, hayvanlar, kaya, ağaç, halı, süs eşyaları, kap kacak, mimari yapılar, zırh, giyim kuşam, mezar taşları gibi çok yaygın bir kullanım alanına sahip olmuşlardır. Türk sanatında damgalar, en eski çağlardan günümüze kadar devam etmiştir. Ardından sırasıyla eserin ele geçtiği bölge, eserin ayrıntılı tasviri ve son olarak da karşılaştırmalı örnekler dâhilinde kronolojik açıdan sonuca gidilmiştir. Ortaya çıkarılan bu damgalı taş ile Türk kültür ve sanatının Anadolu’ya Selçuklulardan önce geldiği ve bu coğrafyada yaşatıldığı görülmüştür.
The subject of the research is the marked tomb stone that occurs in the water isale line crossing in the Kireçli Mahallesi Harabelik, located in the border of the Tortum district of Erzurum. Stamps are one of the most important elements in the learning of ancient cultures, in the discovery of tribe and boy names. These have had a very widespread area of use such as stones, clay, animals, rocks, trees, roofs, decorations, covers, architectural structures, weapons, clothes, tomb stones. The signs of the Turkish art have continued from the oldest times to the present day. Then, accordingly, the area where the work was dealt with, the detailed description of the work and, finally, the comparative examples were concluded chronologically. It has been seen that this stone and the stone that was revealed with the Turkish culture and art came to Anadolu before the Selçuklans and was lived in this geography.
