Access to scientfic knowledge is a rather problematic field in Turkey as regards production of such knowledge, and perhaps even further. Science culture and interaction therein presents an underdeveloped status in Turkey and it is even more curtailed by way of tightened means of access to scientific knowledge. Moreover, observations relating to commodification or commercialisation of scientific knowledge only paves the way towards a restrictive cultural atmosphere that further contributes to the gravity of this problem. Examples of public administrations commercialising public data sold to private companies demonstrates a tragic sign as to how far commodification of knowledge could reach due to new perceptions in public political arena. The study asserts that basic motivation for producing scientfic knowledge is not a profit oriented one, and underlines that commodification does not make any sense or provide any benefit in this context, especially for the authors. Turning court awards into a commodity yet provides another tragic example for law scholars and community. The study further provides a detailed analysis on certain problematic areas of scientific knowledge, like peer reviewed articles and plagiarism as well as how scientific knowledge should function. It is also emphasised that new technologies of this age, such as internet and computerised data processing facilities, have unveiled in an unprecedented manner a world of opportunities that facilitate production of and access to scientific knowledge. Turning a blind eye to such a treasure and impeding access to scientific knowledge and even taking of it as a commodity should be severely criticised, and the study attempts at providing possible solutions while observing the duty of highlighting critics in due course
