In this research study on “Metacognition and Teaching Competency among B.Ed. students”. A sample of 240 B.Ed. students pursuing in education colleges were chosen for this study. The two types of B.Ed. colleges were chosen for this study namely Government and Self-finance college of education in Chennai, affiliated with Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University. For testing of formulated null hypotheses the Metacognitive Awareness Inventory (MAI) standardised by Schraw. G and Dennison. R. S. (1994) and the Teaching Competency scale by the Investigator were used. The result shows that the female B.Ed. students are better than male B.Ed. students in their metacognition; no significant difference is found between rural and urban B.Ed. students; no significant difference is found between Tamil and English medium B.Ed. students in their Teaching Competency; Post Graduate students are better in their Teaching Competency; and there is a positive correlation between Metacognition and Teaching Competency of B.Ed. students.
