INTRODUCTION: To evaluate clinical, pathological features and operative approaches for patients with mature cystic teratoma diagnosis. METHODS: A total 110 women with mature cystic teratoma diagnosis between 2006-2015 were evaluated retrospectively. RESULTS: The mean age was 34.7. The mean volume of tumors were 128.2 cm3. Two cases showed bilateral localization (1.8%). Only, 9.09% of patients were postmenopausal. Operation method was laparotomy for 56.4% of cases and laparoscopy for 19.1% of them. Mature cystic teratoma was detected in 24.5% of cases during cesarean. The most common preferred types of surgery were salpingo-oophorectomy (39.1%) and cyst excision (33.6 %). Torsion was detected intraoperatively in 6.36 % of cases. Malignant transformation was seen in a postmenopausal cases (0.9 %). DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: Mature cystic teratoma is seen in women of reproductive age and torsion is its most common complication. Unilateral localization and rare malignant transformation tendency are its characteristic features.
