Abstract:

This study aimed at determining the needs of parents who spend the quarantine days in the province of Gaziantep with their children with special needs between 2 and 20 years of age in their homes and their views on the services offered. It has become a global crisis that affects all the countries of the world. The study was carried out in the framework of the quality research approach with the fact science (fenomenology) design. The participants of the study are 273 parents who continue their children to a private education and rehabilitation center where the number of students in the province is the most intense with the easy-to-accessed sample method. 30% of participants are parents of children with physical disability, 25% mental disability and 16% autism spectrum disorder. The data obtained was evaluated by research questions and visual analysis. The needs of parents have been found to include education, social and psychological support, child care support, economic support, health and therapeutic services. In this process, parents need the support of the most special educational teachers. Most parents have found useful the tasks and activities prepared by special educational teachers at the center in accordance with the individual needs of the students and the educational sharing offered to them through social media.
