Classroom teachers have problems in different areas such as the determination of the content of leisure time activities lessons, their processing or implementation. Some teachers use this course as a reinforcement course. For this reason, in this study, prospective classroom teachers were asked to design lessons by examining the primary school curriculum and identifying the areas that may be needed with needs identification approaches. 38 primary school teacher candidates participated in this research, which was carried out as action research. According to the findings, it was seen that the most used approach was the analytical approach, which was followed by the descriptive approach and the differences approach, among the needs assessment approaches. In contrast, the democratic approach was not preferred at all. When the contents of the designed course proposals were examined, it was seen that there are courses that mostly address the skill areas, followed by the courses in the fields of environment and sustainability, followed by the topics covering games, intercultural interaction, personal development, art, sports, values and geographical information of our country, respectively.
