Kadim bir geçmişe sahip olan Türk dilinin söz varlığındaki sözcüklerin kökeni geçmişten günümüze pek çok araştırıcıya araştırma konusu olmuştur. Eldeki yazıda Anadolu sahası dışındaki tarihî dönem Türk dillerine ait metinlerde yer almayan gölet sözcüğünün kökeni, Çağdaş Türk yazı dillerindeki kullanım biçimleri, anlamı, yaygınlığı ve tarihi sözlük bilimi açısından detaylı bir şekilde incelenecektir. Türkçede köken bilgisi üzerine görüş birliği sağlanamamış sözcüklerden biri olan gölet sözcüğünün, sözlüklerde eş anlamlısı olarak verilen ve tarihi metinlerde gölet sözcüğünden daha eski olarak kullanıldığı tanıklanan büğet sözcüğüne örnekseme yoluyla Türkçenin söz varlığına eklendiği ispat edilmeye çalışılmıştır.
The origin of the words in the Turkish language, which has an ancient history, has been the subject of research for many researchers from the past to the present day. The origin of the lake word which is not included in the texts of the Turkish language of the historical period outside the Anatolian field, the forms of use, meaning, prevalence and historical dictionary science in the Contemporary Turkish writing languages will be studied in detail. In Turkish, one of the words that did not provide a view on the source information, the lake word, which is given as equivalent in the dictionaries and used in historical texts as older than the lake word, is tried to prove to be added to the existence of the Turkish word by example of the lake word.
