Kentler, kültür birikimine sahip olan yerlerdir. Orada yaşayanların neredeyse her türlü ihtiyaçlarına karşılık bulabildiği mekanlardır. Heykel sanatı, karakteri gereği, (bütün Sanat dallarında olduğu gibi) izlenmek, görülmek ve fark edilmek ister. Heykel bu ereğini Geniş kitlelerle şehir meydanlarında gerçekleştirebilme imkânına sahip olabilmektedir. Sanatçılar heykellerini sadece atölyede, koleksiyonlarda hatta müzelerde görmekle yetinmezler. Dolayısıyla dış mekânlara açılıp Kent ortamlarında, insanlarla paylaşmak istemişlerdir. Sanatçılar heykel ve rölyeflerini Meydanlara ve binaların cephelerine yerleştirerek o şehrin, görünümüne anlam katmanın ötesinde kentin kimlik oluşturmasına büyük katkı sağlamışlardır. Yapılan bu üç boyutlu sanat nesneleri (heykeller) kuşkusuz şehrin simgesi olmuş ve insan yaşamının ayrılmaz parçası haline gelebilmişlerdir. Heykeller her ne kadar yaratım sürecindeyken sanatçının duygu ve düşüncelerini anlatıyor olsa da artık şehirlilerin görsel dili ve şehri anlamlaştıran estetik objeler olmaları sebebiyle, insanların hayatlarına ve zamana tanıklık etme gibi bir misyon da yüklenmişlerdir. Bu makalede kentin kimliğine katkı sağlamış Gustave Eiffel’in Fransa’nın Paris kentinde bulunan “Eiffel Kulesi” Amerika’nın New York kentinde bulunan “özgürlük anıtı” ile Danimarka’nın Kopenhag kentinde bulunan Anish Kapoor’un “Cloud Gate” isimli heykeller üzerinde, yeni olduğunu düşündüğümüz değlendirmeleri kapsaması bakımından önemli olduğu kanısındayız
Cities are places that have cultural accumulation. It is a place where people can meet almost all their needs. Statue art, according to its character, (as in all branches of art) wants to be observed, seen and noticed. The statue may have the possibility to realize this work with large crowds in the city squares. Artists are not enough to see their sculptures only in workshops, collections, and even in museums. So they opened out to the outskirts and wanted to share with people in the city environments. Artists have placed their sculptures and sculptures on the fronts of the squares and buildings and made a great contribution to the city’s creation of the identity beyond adding meaning to its appearance. Cities are places with cultural heritage. They are places where residents can find almost all their needs. Sculpture art, due to its character (as in all branches of art), wants to be watched, seen and noticed. The sculpture has the opportunity to realize this aim with large masses in the city squares. Artists are not content to see their sculptures only in workshops, collections or even in museums. Therefore, they wanted to go outside and share with people in urban environments. By placing their sculptures and reliefs in Squares and on the facades of buildings, artists have contributed greatly to the identity of the city beyond adding meaning to its appearance. These three-dimensional art objects (sculptures) have undoubtedly become the symbols of the city and have become an integral part of human life. Although the sculptures express the feelings and thoughts of the artist during the creation process, they have a mission of witnessing people's lives and time, since they are now the visual language of the city dwellers and aesthetic objects that make sense of the city. In this article, Gustave Eiffel's "Eiffel Tower" in Paris, France, "Statue of Liberty" in New York, USA and Anish Kapoor's "Cloud Gate" sculptures in Copenhagen, Denmark, which contributed to the identity of the city, We think that it is important in terms of covering the evaluations that we think are new.
