Birinci Dünya Savaşında en önemli cephelerden biri olan Çanakkale Cephesi, askeri ve siyasî yönden olduğu kadar eğitim boyutunda da araştırılmaya değerdir. Eğitimin canlı aktörlerinden en önemlisi öğretmendir. Cephede ve cephe gerisinde öğretmenlerin faaliyetleri, eğitim kurumunu doğrudan etkilediği gibi diğer kurumları da etkileme gücüne sahiptir. Bu araştırmada Çanakkale Cephesinde ve cephe gerisinde görev alan öğretmen ve öğretmen adaylarının durumları ve savaşın öğretmen üzerinden eğitim-öğretim kurumuna etkileri ele alınmıştır. Araştırmanın verileri, 1914-1916 yıllarındaki resmî yazışmalara dayalı bazı arşiv belgeleri ve konuyla ilgili yazılı eserlerdir. Bu veriler, betimsel analiz yöntemi kullanılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırma bulgularından hareketle genel olarak şu sonuca ulaşılmıştır: Gönüllü veya askere çağrılan öğretmenler, cephede vatan savunmasında çarpışırken cephe gerisinde birçok okul, öğretmensiz kalmış ve bundan eğitim-öğretim olumsuz etkilenmiştir.
The Chanakkale Front, one of the most important fronts in the First World War, is worth exploring in the educational scale as well as in the military and political scale. The most important of the live actors of education is the teacher. The activities of teachers on the front and behind the front have the power to influence other institutions as they directly affect the educational institution. This study discussed the situation of teachers and teachers candidates who are in the Çanakkale Front and behind the Front and the impact of the war on the educational and educational institution through the teacher. The data of the study are some archive documents and written works on the subject based on official correspondence from 1914 to 1916. These data have been evaluated using the visual analysis method. Based on the research findings, the following conclusion has been reached in general: While volunteers or recruited teachers were fighting in defense of the homeland at the front, many schools behind the front were left without a teacher and education was adversely affected by this.
Çanakkale front which is one of the most important fronts in the First World War is also worth studying in educational dimension as well as military and political aspects. The teacher is also one of the most important alive actors of education. At the front and behind it the teachers' actions have direct impact on educational institutions and also have the power to influence other agencies. In this research, conditions of teachers and student teachers involved in Çanakkale front and behind it and effects of the war on educational institutions were discussed through the teacher. Research data was collected through some archival documents and written works on the subject based on official correspondence in the years 1914-1916. These data were evaluated by using descriptive analysis method. Based on the findings of research overall the following conclusion was reached: While volunteer or draftee teachers were battling in the defence of the homeland at the front, behind it many schools remained without teacher and the education was negatively affected by that situation.
