Abstract:

This research was carried out in order to develop the “Team Sports Fan Commitment Scale (TSFCS)” and to determine the fan profiles. The universe of the research consists of individuals who are connected to a team sport with a fan bond that will represent the theoretical framework. The sample consists of 977 supporters of team sports, who were determined by random sampling method from among the universe, and who voluntarily agreed to participate in our study. The Development of the Team Sports Fan Commitment Scale (TSFCS) consists of certain stages. First of all, an item pool was created to determine the scale items. Afterwards, expert opinions were received, pilot trials were carried out, and the reliability and validity of the scale were tested. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) were used to examine the construct validity of the scale, and it was also subjected to convergent validity and discriminant validity analyzes. Cronbach's Alpha reliability coefficient was calculated for the reliability test of the scale. The scores obtained from the validity and reliability tests as a result of the analyzes made support the 17-item 3-factor structure of TSFCS. In conclusion; It has been concluded that the Team Sports Fan Commitment Scale is a measurement tool that meets the qualifications for evaluating the commitment of team sports fans in the Turkish population.
