Abstract:

This study is aimed at studying class teachers’ opinions on game-based mathematical activities. In this qualitative study developed in accordance with the objective, the event design was applied and the data obtained was studied by the content analysis method. Class teachers pointed out that games-based activities encourage the active participation, that it helps in the concretization of mathematical knowledge, and that it increases the social interaction between students. The fact that the preparations for events and the practice of activities within the class takes too much time and the fact that the activities make class management difficult is defined as the negative effects of game-based activities. Class teachers have also expressed their need for resources that include creative games, cheap and easy-to-preparable materials and service-based training to implement game-based activities. The preparation of training and educational materials based on game-based mathematical activities within the EBA platform can effectively and quickly meet the relevant needs of classmates. Providing the opportunity for teachers to more freely organize their achievements and periods dedicated to achievements during the preparation of the next mathematical program will be effective in reducing class teachers’ time-related concerns and in the more frequent use of game-based mathematical activities.
