Abstract:

Mecmuas are one of the fundamental sources of the history of literature. In particular, poetry mecmuas having the characteristics of anthology are each personal records that reflect the literary taste of the period as well as their compositors' preferences. Each mecmua has its own composition and content. In recent years, some studies which aim to bring these unique works to light and collect them within a digital database have been conducted. In this study, "Mecmua-i Es'ar", registered at Yapi Kredi Research Library with the book id Y.0339, has been classified in reference to "The Project of Systematic Classification of Poetry Mecmuas (MESTAP)". Though there is no information as to the composition date and the writer, thanks to examinations, it is considered that this mecmua was composed in the early 19th century by a compositor who was a member of or liked a religious group named "Bayramiyye". "Mecmua-i Es'ar", which consists of 91 leaves, involves the poems of the poets that lived between the 15th -19th centuries. This means that this mecmua was composed with an effort to reflect the poetry taste of almost all classical Turkish literature field. In the mecmua, there are 357 poems by 128 different poets, and the poets of some poems are still unknown. Besides, the mecmua also includes a few poems in the Persian language in addition to examples of classical Turkish poetry and religious Turkish folk poetry. Additionally, it is possible to encounter the use of aruz prosody and syllabic meter, and almost all types of verses in Turkish literature.
