Abstract:

In this study, the aim was to determine the seroprevalence of leishmaniasis in dogs in the Van and Bitlis provinces by IFAT (immuno-floresan antibodies test). In the provinces of Van and Bitlis, a total of 100 dogs were taken venous blood samples without age and gender difference. For the purpose of determining seroprevalence, IFAT has been applied to blood samples taken into anticoagulant tubes and sentrifuted from the serum on the lam. The lamps were studied using a 20X lens under a fluorescent microscope and the images were recorded. In this study, a ki-core test was used for statistical analysis. In the Van province, a blood sample was taken from a total of 65 dogs and 3 dogs (4.6%) were found positive in the direction of leishmaniasis. In the Bitlis province, a total of 35 dogs were taken blood and 1 dog (2.9%) was detected seropositive as an IFAT result. There was no statistically meaningful relationship between age and positive facts (p>0.05). This study conducted in the provinces of Van and Bitlis with the detection of the dogs in the area as seropositive in terms of leishmaniasis shows that the disease constitutes a potential threat to people in the area. This study also reveals the need for studies such as the determination of prevalence and vector assets that can be done in other areas where the presence of disease is not studied depending on changing climate conditions.
