Abstract:

The aim of this study is to raise awareness of suicide behavior through the social service perspective, to investigate the impact of news language on suicide behavior and to identify the reflection of suicide in the news language. Protecting preventive recommendations for the results arising in the context of the findings obtained and the scaned literature is another objective aimed at the study. The conducted study is a non-reaction research based on the technique of content analysis using the quality research method. The sample of this study consists of 200 news content obtained by making some filters through the Google News Search. The findings obtained are coded in the form of themes and sub-themes after processing into the 18.0-quality data program in Maxq. There were also some quotes for the purpose of strengthening the meaning of the findings in the process of interpretation. The research found that men are more at risk than women, that in-family inability and poverty factors are among the main causes of suicidal behavior, that cutting tools and firearms are the vehicles used in suicides, that the vast majority of the surveyed news content does not meet the standards in the guidelines published by the DSO. In addition, it has been determined that the participation of suicide behavior in the news has macro-level effects. In this regard, it is clear that the auditing mechanisms related to the news published should be increased. However, it is believed that social workers who are actively involved in the field should work on suicide at the mezzo and macro level.

The study is an unresponsive research based on content analysis technique using qualitative research method. The sample of this study consists of 200 news content obtained through some filtering via Google News Search Engine. The findings were coded into themes and sub-themes after being processed in the qualitative data program of Maxqda 18.0. Also, in order to strengthen the meaning in the interpretation of the findings, one-to-one quotations were also made. As a result of the research, men are more at risk than women, domestic incompatibility and poverty factors are among the most important causes of suicidal behavior, cutting tools and firearms are the most used tools in suicides and the contents of the majority of the scanned news do not meet the standarts in the guidelines published by WHO. In addition, it was determined that having suicidal behavior in the news had macro effects. When evaluated from this point of view, it is clear that the control mechanisms related to the published news should be increased. Furthermore, it is thought that social workers actively involved in the field should carry out works at mezzo and macro level on suicide.
