Abstract:

The purpose of the work 4. A randomly determined 340 students’ social skills levels, gender, preferred play area, the number of people they prefer in the game and the time of play per day variable, and the differences between the scale results they obtain. The sample group of the study consists of 340 fourth-class students, including 180 boys and 160 girls, randomly selected from different schools in Kayseri. The research used the social skills inventory developed by Riggio (1989) and the personal information form developed by the researcher. The social skills inventory consists of the subdimensions of sensory narrative, sensory sensitivity, sensory control, social narrative, social sensitivity and social control. The study used the social narrative, social sensitivity and social control subdimensions of the inventory. While t test statistics are used for gender variable to identify the difference between the scores obtained from the scale, one-way variance analysis statistics are used for the variables of the game area they prefer, the number of people they prefer and the time they play the game per day. According to the study, the average scores that students obtain in the subdimensions of social narrative, social sensitivity and social control are not different according to the gender variable. According to the findings obtained, the social skill scores of the students show significant statistical differences according to the number of people they prefer in the game, the areas they prefer in the gameplay and the variables in the gameplay time per day. The children should be given the opportunity to be more intrinsic with the games in their social and academic lives. Development processes should be supported by games in such a way as to support different development areas.
