Abstract:

Aim: Categorical data are widely used in research in the field of health, as in many other fields. In the evaluation of categorical data, chi-square analysis is generally used through cross tables. However, this method cannot be used when more than two categorical variables are wanted to be evaluated together. The log linear analysis method, on the other hand, can examine the relationship between more than two categorical variables. In this study, it is aimed to apply the Log Linear analysis method for studies in the field of health and to ensure the prevalence of this method. Material and method: In the research, the data of the specialty thesis in medicine, which was done before, were used as application data. The thesis data, which questioned whether vaccination and vaccination knowledge in the elderly change according to urban and rural areas, were evaluated in three-dimensional cross tables with Log Linear analysis method. Results: Vaccination status in the elderly does not differ according to rural and urban areas. Having knowledge about the vaccine was found to be related to the status of being vaccinated. Conclusion: As a result of three different applications, the relationship between three categorical variables can be evaluated with a single analysis, double and triple interactions can be tested, and the application steps of the method are shown in detail.
