Abstract:

This study aimed at developing their skills to understand that elementary fourth-class students are reading through the Six-minute Method. The research is designed by the "action research" methods of research. The method of "homogeneous" sampling has been used for the creation of the study group. The research work group is made up of the 2013-2014 educational-learning year, which includes six primary school fourth-class students studying in a state school in the central Selçuklu district of Konya. The selected students are students who experience vocal reading difficulties, although they have no physical and mental problems, and who experience problems in understanding that they read. The selected students were listened to the reading texts at the fourth, third, second and first class levels respectively to determine their level of understanding, and asked questions about the post-read texts. The scores that students obtained The reading levels in the Error Analysis Inventory were evaluated according to the account table and the students were found to be at the first-class level of concern. Undergraduate students were taught using a total of seventy-two hours "Six-minute Method" of two hours a day, six hours a week. Approved by the President of the Educational and Educational Council for Teaching, the 2013-2014 educational and educational year has been used ten texts selected from the Turkish curriculum of the Ministry of Education. When research findings are studied, it is found that students progress from the level of anxiety to the level of teaching in understanding that they read, while some students reach the level of free reading. The six-minute method has been achieved to improve students’ understanding skills that they read.
