Öz. Edatlar dilde önemli unsurlardandır. Geçmişten günümüze Dünya üzerinde kullanımı süre gelen köklü dillerde kelime grupları içerisinde edatlara özel bir önem verilmiştir. Bu dillerden biri olan Arapçada da edatlar göz ardı edilmemiştir. Edatlar ilk dönem Arap dili gramerine ait eserlerin bazısında konu içerisinde ele alınmıştır. Ancak ilerleyen dönemlerde sırf edatlarla ilgili eserler hazırlanmıştır. Arap dilindeki edatlardan biri de atıf harfleridir. Bu atıf harfleri içerisinde yer alan (أَمْ) ve (أَوْ) edatları Türkçede ‘veya, yahut, ya da’ gibi anlamları ifade ederek benzer anlamlara gelmekle müterâdif/anlamdaş kelimelere benzemektedirler. Sözü geçen iki edat Arap dilinde atıf harflerinden sayılmakla beraber ilk dönem eserlerinde atıf harflerinden bağımsız ayrı bir başlık altında da ele alınmıştır. İlk dönemde telîf edilen eserlerin incelenmesi sonucu bu iki edatın bazı durumlarda cümle içerisinde kullanımı eşit olmakla beraber bazı durumlarda ikisinden sadece birinin kullanımına cevaz verildiği fark edilmiştir. Propositions are included in works of some early Arap grammer. Later, there has been some other works only about prepositions. In the language of Arabic one of the prepositions of connectives are (أَمْ) and (أَوْ) prepositions of connectives are the same meanings of “either, or” in Turkish which makes it synonymous. These two Arabic propositions are anathor subject independently from connectives. İn a result of observing of those early written works, these two propositions are used in same situations but sometimes can be used only one of them.

The first editions of the Arabic language grammatics were discussed in the subject. However, in the past period, only works related to edats have been prepared. One of the edats in the Arabic language is the reference letters. The words that are in these reference letters (am) and (a) edats in Turkish meanings like 'or, or, or' are similar to the words that come to similar meanings. The two edats of the word in Arabic were counted as reference letters in the first period's works were also addressed under a separate title independent of reference letters. The study of the works written in the first period resulted in the fact that the use of these two edats in some cases is equal in the phrase, but in some cases only one of the two has been responded to the use of it.
