Abstract:

The purpose of this research is to develop a scale for measuring the skills of psychological counselors in responding to trauma. The sample group of the study consists of psychological consultants working in schools affiliated to the Ministry of national education. 265 Psychological consultants from all over Turkey voluntarily participated in the study. Exploratory factor analysis (AFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (DFA) were used to check the construct validity of the study. The Cronbach's Alpha (alpha) value of the internal consistency coefficient was found to be 0.879. In addition, it was seen that the scale explained 59.557% of the total variance. As a result of factor analyses conducted to test the structural validity of the scale, it was seen that the 10 scale items consist of two dimensions in the form of “Cognitive” and “Emotional”. The findings obtained in the study show that the validity and reliability characteristics of the scale are at a good level.
