Abstract:

This article is about understanding the experiences of religiosity in the secular public sphere in daily life through symbolic interactionist theory. In this context, the aim of the study is to analyse the interaction rituals of the personal and collective religious self in the secular public sphere from the perspective of symbolic interactionism theory. Combining the theoretical foundations of symbolic interactionism with real-world experiences, this article offers a comprehensive understanding of how religious selves and identities develop and adapt in response to the demands and influences of the secular public sphere. The study shows that symbolic interactionism theory has the capacity to comprehensively explain, concretize and conceptualize religiosity practices, interactions and tensions in daily life. In this respect, the article attempts to contribute to the broader discourse on religion, self, and social norms by offering inferences about the multifaceted nature of religious experiences in contemporary society. Thus, this article wants to expand the terminology of the sociology of religion by supporting the literature in the process of concretization and conceptualization of data in religiosity studies.
