Abstract:

Purpose: Axis spondylarthritis (aksSpA) is a heterogeneous group of inflammatory diseases characterized by the suppressive shake of the axis skeleton. Vitamin D deficiency is not a rare situation in the world. The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between vitamin D deficiency and disease activity, quality of life related to health and other clinical characteristics in axSpA patients. Instruments and Methods: The activity, function, mobility, quality of life and pain of the disease were assessed by various indicators and blood samples for vitamin D levels were collected in patients with acspA. Results: A total of 25 ankylosan spondylitis (AS) and 25 non-radiographic (nr) acspA patients were included. The average age of patients with AS and nr-aksSpA was similar. 44% of patients with AxSpA had vitamin D deficiency. The average levels of vitamin D were significantly lower in patients with nr-aksSpA than in patients with AS. In patients with a deficiency of vitamin D, some diseases had a higher scale of activity. Result: The quality of life standards were similar among groups. There was a low negative relationship between the Bath Ankylosan Spondylite Functional Index (BASFI), the Bath Ankylosan Spondylite Metrology Index (BASMI) and the Bath Ankylosan Spondylite Disease Activity Index (BASDAI) with vitamin D levels.
