OBJECTIVE: This study was conducted to determine the level of professional motivation of nursing students. METHODS: The universe of this survey planned descriptive Sakarya University, 585 students have been studying in the School of Health. In the study sample selection was not made in the way the whole universe was designed to achieve. However, students absenteeism, participation in research not to accept and surveys fill in the missing because of research with 100 students tamamlanmıştır.birinc in chapter students' socio-demographic characteristics and professional attitudes reveals prepared to nine questions, the second section; Consisting of 24 questions developed by Acat and Köşgeroğl "Motivational Resources and Problems Scale" has taken place. RESULTS: Students who participated in the study, 88% of girls and 25% and 79% of 1st class 1-10 nursing. As a result, a high level of intrinsic motivation of prospective nurses (2.48 ± 0.787), above the average of the level of extrinsic motivation (2.06 ± 0.751) was detected. Nurse candidates' gender, family history of health workers depending on whether the community's nursing perspective and students from nursing education expectations in terms of motivation levels, a significant difference is not observed (p> 0.05); classes, in order of preference, the nursing make to the state, nursing reasons for choosing to and nursing students a meaningful difference in the direction of identification (p <0.05) was observed. CONCLUSION: Our findings need to develop nursing students' motivation level is revealed. At the secondary level of preparation and presentation of promotional programs for the nursing profession, the nursing profession and do not intend to adopt the relevant section but positive professional image to candidates studying for the new programs can be arranged.
