Abstract:

The aim of the research is to examine the leisure literacy and mental toughness levels of Faculty of Sports Sciences stu-dents in terms of some variables. In addi-tion, the study aimed to examine the direction of the relationship between students' leisure literacy and mental toughness levels. The research was exe-cuted according to the quantitative model. The sample of the research consists of 270 university students who were select-ed by convenient sampling method. The research was carried out in Kırıkkale and Kırşehir Ahi Evran University Sports Sci-ences Faculties. Reliable and valid Leisure Literacy Scale (LLS) and Mental Toughness Scale (MTS) were used to collect data from the participants. The data were analyzed with the SPSS 26.0 package program and Normality Analyzes, Cronbach Alpha internal consistency anal-ysis, T-Test, one way variance analysis and Pearson Correlation analyzes were applied in the analysis of the data. No significant difference was found between the students' gender, the university they studied at, and the variable of licensed or unlicensed sports, LLS and its sub-dimensions, and MTS averages. Despite this, because of the correlation analyzes of the participants' LLS and MTS levels, a moderately positive relationship was found in the Mental Toughness and LLS and its sub-dimensions. As a result, it is seen that students with high levels of mental endurance also have high levels of leisure literacy and these two phenomena positively affect each other.
