Abstract:

This study tries to draw the portrait of Halide Edib as a bright, in the axis of his encounters with the East and the West. In this context, Halide Edib’s quest for balance between the East and the West and the reactive character of this quest are intended to be illustrated in the context of a narrative that includes the conflicts of the social and political climate of the time in which he lived. This reaction is a sign of self-representation in every edge of Halide Edib’s life, an element that determines his way in both the private life and public concerns of the light seeking a “output” and remaining in the arphate. The basis of this Araf state is also the conservation of what is "on our own" that is also in the source of the quest for balance. While this conservation effort is pointing to a clear portrait of life in all dimensions, which wants to exist as an equal fail, as "self", Halide Edib's thought, after all the search for responsibility and balance, will evolve into an approach in the West's favour.
