E-Sağlık Okuryazarlığı ve Çevrimiçi Sağlık Bilgisi Arama Davranışı Üzerine Bir Araştırma

Abstract:

Bu çalışmanın amacı sağlık bilimleri alanında öğrenim görmekte olan üniversite öğrencilerinin e-sağlık sağlık düzeylerini belirlemek ve çevrimiçi sağlık bilgisi arama davranışlarını incelemektir. Araştırma tanımlayıcı ve kesitsel bir desende planlanmıştır. Araştırmanın anakütlesini Afyonkarahisar Sağlık Bilimleri Üniversitesi Sağlık Bilimleri Fakültesi’nin 2012 öğrencisi oluştururken, örneklemini 629 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak anket formu kullanılmıştır. Katılımcıların e-sağlık okuryazarlığı düzeyini ölçmek amacıyla Türkçe uyarlaması yapılan e-sağlık okuryazarlığı ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Katılımcıların çevrimiçi sağlık arama davranışlarını belirlemek amacıyla ABD Ulusal Kanser Enstitüsü Sağlık Bilgisi Ulusal Trend Araştırması (HINTS) kapsamındaki kategorik sorulardan yararlanılmıştır. Araştırmada e-sağlık okuryazarlığı ölçeğinin ortalama değeri 3.74±0.67 olarak bulunmuştur. Çalışmada üniversite öğrencilerinin sınıf düzeyi, sürekli ilaç kullanma durumları ve genel sağlık durumu değişkenleri ile e-sağlık okuryazarlığı ölçeği ortalama puanları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık saptanmıştır. Çevrimiçi sağlık arama davranışlarında; %77,1’inin Instagram, Facebook, Twittter vb. sosyal medya uygulamaları ile sağlıkla veya hastalıkla ilgili bir video izlediği, %65,3’ünün tabletinde veya akıllı telefonunda sağlıkla ilgili herhangi bir yazılım veya uygulama bulunduğu, %80,1’inin internette sağlık bilgisi ararken 1 saatin altında zaman harcadığı, %67,8’inin internetteki sağlık veya tıbbi konular yönelik bilgilere orta düzeyde güvendiği ve %58,6’sının sağlığı hakkında karar verirken interneti yararlı bulduğu tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak sağlık alanındaki üniversite öğrencilerinin e-sağlık okuryazarlık düzeyinin yeterli olduğu, öğrencilerin önemli bir çoğunluğunun internetteki sağlık ve hastalık konusundaki bilgilere orta düzeyde güvendikleri, sosyal medyanın sağlık ve hastalıkla ilgili bilgi edinmede önemli kaynaklar olduğu belirlenmiştir.

Abstract:

The aim of this study is to determine the e-health levels of university students who are studying in the field of health sciences and to study behaviors in search of online health information. The research is planned in a defining and cutting-edge design. The study is based on the 2012 student of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Afyonkarahisar University of Health Sciences, while the sample is composed of 629 students. The survey form was used as a data collection tool. The e-health reading scale was used to measure the level of e-health readership of participants. The U.S. National Cancer Institute’s National Health Information Trends Research (HINTS) has taken advantage of categories of questions to determine the online health search behaviors of participants. The study found that the average value of the e-health reading scale was 3.74±0.67. The study identified statistically significant differences between the class level of university students, the continuous use of drugs and the general health status variables and the average scale of e-health literature scale. In online health search behaviors; 77.1% of them are Instagram, Facebook, Twittter, etc. It was found that 65.3% of people watched a video about health or illness, 65.3% found any health-related software or application on their tablets or smartphones, 80.1% spent less than 1 hour searching for health information on the internet, 67.8% believed on average health or medical information on the internet and 58.6% found the internet useful when deciding about health. As a result, it was determined that the level of e-health literature of university students in the field of health was sufficient, that a significant majority of students trusted in the information on health and disease on the internet at a medium level, and that social media was an important source of information about health and disease.

The research was planned in a descriptive and cross-sectional design. While the population of the research consists of 2012 students of Afyonkarahisar Health Sciences University Faculty of Health Sciences, 629 students form the sample. Questionnaire form was used as data collection tool in the research. The e-health literacy scale, which was adapted to Turkish, was used to measure e-health literacy. In order to determine the online health-seeking behaviors of the participants, categorical questions within the scope of the US National Cancer Institute Health Information National Trend Survey (HINTS) were used. The mean value of the e-health literacy scale in the study was found to be 3.74±0.67. In the study, a statistically significant difference was found between university students' grade level, continuous drug use and general health status variables and the mean scores of the e-health literacy scale. In online health seeking behaviors; 77.1% of them have Instagram, Facebook, Twitter etc. watched a video about health or illness with social media applications, 65.3% had any health-related software or application on their tablet or smartphone, 80.1% spent less than 1 hour searching for health information on the internet, 67%, It was determined that 8 of them moderately trust the information on health or medical issues on the internet and 58.6% find the internet useful when making decisions about their health. As a result, it has been determined that the e-health literacy level of university students in the field of health is sufficient, a significant majority of the students trust information about health and illness on the internet at a moderate level, and social media is an important source of information about health and illness.
