Abstract:

Aim: This study aims to examine the posttraumatic growth of healtcare professionals according to their methods of coping with stress and perceived social support levels during the COVID-19 pandemic. Materials and Methods: A total of 266 people, including doctors, nurses, health technicians and other health personnel, voluntarily participated in the study. Posttraumatic Growth Scale, Coping with Stress Scale and Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support were used to collect data in the study. Results: As a result of the research, it was found that avoidance, problem-focused and social support coping, and perceived social support from family and a private person significantly and positively predicted posttraumatic growth. On the other hand, perceived social support from friends predicted posttraumatic growth significantly but negatively. Conclusion: According to the regression coefficient, the importance of predictor variables on posttraumatic growth can be sorted as; avoidance, problem-focused coping, perceived social support from friends, social support coping, perceived social support from family, and perceived social support from a special person. The findings were discussed within the relevant literature.
