One of the most important problems of Turkish folk music is terminology. The major one of these problems stems from naming of melodic structure of turkish folk music. When the terms and approaches used at this subject are studied, usually rhyme, mode and scale concepts are seen. When these concepts are researched, it is seen that mode concept contains scale concept while rhyme concept carries more different meanings. On the other hand, the scientists working on this issue claims that there is no need for naming of these rules from the viewpoint of “every folk song is a rule” sentence. On the other hand, in respect of education it is considered that giving a name to these rules is a necessity. We investigated these concepts to find the answers of questions like What should be said? and Why?
