Abstract:

Self-learning difficulties, regardless of culture or language, are defined as difficulties that often affect the ability to understand and use the written language and verbal language, which can be seen in both children and adults, regardless of culture or language, and which can be seen throughout the lifetime in the fields of listening, speaking, reading, writing, mathematics. Explanations about the nature of learning difficulties, although they pay attention to the limitations that these children experience in their academic and social skills, the effects of learning difficulties have a negative impact on the individuals in their close surroundings as well as the children recognized as well. One of the most affected groups of the negative disadvantages revealed by learning difficulties is the parents of these children. In this context, the current study aimed at determining the perceptions of the learning difficulties of the parents with an OEM-known child through metaphors. The study used the phenomenological design from the quality research patterns and the data was analyzed using content analysis. The study included 53 parents, including 31 mothers and 22 fathers. The findings show that parents have produced a total of 51 metaphors in 6 different categories and that their perceptions of learning difficulties are more negative than their fathers. The findings of the study were discussed with the area and recommendations for advanced research were presented.
