Toxoplasmosis is a disease caused by Toxoplasma gondii, an obligate intracellular parasite. Infection is transmitted to humans in several different ways. Resistance against T.gondii infection differs from most sensitivity during the fetal period. T.gondii has a cosmopolitan distribution, crossing nearly every region of our country, in every age and in every socioeconomic group, without differentiating between genders. In our study, anti-Toxoplasma gondii IgG and IgM antibodies were investigated by ELISA in blood samples of 1652 (19.6%) males and 6757 (80,4%) females, totally 8409 subjects applied to our laboratory between January 2002- June 2009. 2692 (32,0%) patients were found to be seropositive for IgG, 38 (0,5%) for IgM, and 197 (2,3%) for both IgG and IgM of them. IgG avidity test was also done on 2277 subjects who have been found seropositive for anti-T.gondii IgG. The results indicated that 104 patients (4,6%) have low avidity, 472 (20,7%) patients have equivocal range avidity and 1701 (74,7%) patients have high avidity
