Abstract:

In this study, personal noise exposure, which is one of the physical factors of occupational hygiene, was measured in order to determine the occupational health and safety conditions in 15 different workplaces operating in the metal sector and working with gas, submerged and / or covered electrode arc welding in the province of Ankara. Measurements were made with devices that were calibrated and carried out by a laboratory authorized and accredited within the scope of the relevant legislation. The measurement criteria specified in the national legislation and international standards were complied with, and the data obtained as a result of the measurement were analyzed in line with these criteria. In addition, the source workers in the workplaces were asked about their discomfort in terms of noise exposure, and the obtained employee statements and measurement results were evaluated together. In order to facilitate the evaluation of noise measurement results and employee statements of workplaces, workplaces of similar size are grouped. Thus, workplaces were divided into four different categories as large, medium, small and micro classes, and the evaluations were made within the scope of this classification. In the study; The causes and levels of noise exposure in the welding work and metal sector, the measures to reduce and prevent this exposure, the methods of making the measurements, the situations before, during and after the measurements, the measurement results and the general evaluation of these results are presented.
