Abstract Whereas the achievement of sporting mega-events in Brazil, this study sought to reflect onaspects of FIFA2014 World Cup - impacts and economic investments expected; sourcesof investment; justifications of governments to host it, the public investment in BahiaStadium for the Cup and for courts to physical education. The study was set up indocument analysis with content analysis. It was showed the prediction of the expenseof $ 183.2 billion to GDP (gross national product) and investment of R $ 23.8 billion,being the disclosure of the country and the possible benefits to the economy the mainreasons. In relation to the government of Bahia it showed an investment of $ 268.1 millionin the stadium while 42.2% of schools do not have courts for physical education classes.It is concluded that there is a large investment of public money and that although thereare predicted benefits to the economy, there is no guarantee that they will happen.
