Abstract:

In literature, the concept of entrepreneurial network is linked to the simple concept of "net/network" which makes it difficult to understand the concept in a concrete way. The aim of this study is to draw a defining framework to add the concept of "sustainable entrepreneurial network" to literature, to make this concept measurable using formulas, to create an index specific to the example country and to reveal the relationship of the concept with macroeconomy. The methodologically sustainable entrepreneurial network is defined within the framework of entrepreneurial culture, entrepreneurial network and evolutionary cycle elements. The theoretical background is inspired by the Network Theory and Product Life Cycle Approaches in Literature. The sustainable entrepreneurial network is measured by mathematical formulas in four stages, starting from the definition framework. The achieved indicators were converted into the sub-index and the Sustainable Entrepreneurial Network Index (SGAE) was obtained using the HDI methodology. In order to eliminate the problem of multi-linear connection, SGAE is calculated using both the arithmetic average (not weighted-AO) and the Basic Components Analysis (weighted-PCA) methods. According to the index values calculated in the 0-1 range, the sustainable entrepreneurial network index was mainly stable during the 1980-2014 period. The highest level in 1997 was 0.73. 1980 was the year where the sustainable entrepreneurial network was the lowest by 0.27. The relationship of the sustainable entrepreneurial network with macroeconomy has been explained in a theoretical framework by taking advantage of literature. The concept’s relationship with macroeconomics can be clearly established through the corporate impact of four stages.
