Abstract:

This study is aimed at determining the trends of studies aimed at measuring and assessing in Turkish teaching as a foreign language. The research is carried out in the method of document examination from research models. There are 58 studies on the subject. Data analysis is implemented. The results of the analyses found that 27 of the studies were articles, 31 were postgraduate theses, and 91% of the studies aimed at measuring in the teaching of Turkish as a foreign language were conducted between 2015 and 2021. The topics discussed in the measurement and evaluation studies in Turkish language as a foreign language are gathered in the topics of alternative measurement and evaluation (f=20), measurement and evaluation tool development (f=15), course and qualification exams (f=12). The research questions are usually between 1-5 (f=31), the sub-problems are at the maximum 33. Document examination (f=19) from the quality research methods is often used for visual scanning (f=8) from the quantum methods. In the target audience of the studies / the subject of the study, students (f=25), teachers (f=12), curricula books (f=10) and student compositions (f=10) are highlighted. The most commonly used data collection tool is the conversation form (f=17) and the alternative measurement assessment tools (f=17), the data analysis method is the document analysis (f=16). The most frequently applied theoretical foundation in research is the European Language Measures Framework Text. It is recommended to develop the exam in terms of subject, to study general-purpose exam such as the qualification exam, to develop the teachers’ measurement evaluation skills; to focus on experimental and action research in terms of methodology.
