Abstract:

Introduction: In the healthcare system, the physical needs of individuals which can be more easily measured are first addressed, and spiritual needs can be overlooked. Spiritual requirements are more abstract and complex because measurement is difficult. When the literature is studied, it is found that in our country there is no scale to determine the needs of spiritual care for patients. The purpose: Spiritual Care Requirements is to ensure the validity and reliability of the Turkish form of the scale. Method: The methodological type of research was carried out in April-August 2016 at the Ege University Medical School Hospital and in the surgical clinics. The universe of research has been formed by patients in the clinics and surgical clinics. The sample of the study included 110 patients from this universe who agreed to participate in the study and who fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Results: The KGO value calculated to determine the validity of the scope in the study is between 3-4 points. The factor load of the scale identified consisting of two factors is between 0.41 and 0.88 for the first factor and 0.33 and 0.90 for the second factor. The Cronbach Alfa internal consistency ratio of the measure is α = .935 . The total score correlation between the whole and the subgroups of the measurement was found above r = .30. The measurement of Spiritual Care Requirements can be said to be valid and reliable in determining the needs of spiritual care of patients in Turkey.
