Abstract:

The study was cross-sectional in order to examine the relationship between nomophobia, depression and psychological well-being in nursing faculty students. The study was conducted with 442 nursing students. Data; Personal information form was collected using the Nomophobia Scale and Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Psychological Well-Being Scale (PSIOS). In the analysis of the data, t test and ANOVA test were used for parametric data, Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal Wallis test were used for nonparametric data. Correlation and linear regression analysis were used to analyze the relationship between nomophobia, depression risk and psychological well-being. Female students had higher nomophobia and depression scores than males. Nursing students' nomophobia and depression scores were moderate, and their psychological well-being scores were higher than the average. There was a low negative correlation between nomophobia scores and Psychological Well-being scores. A moderately significant negative correlation was found between Beck Depression Inventory scores and psychological well-being scores. In the study, it was determined that the Beck Depression Inventory score was effective on the nomophobia scores of the students. It was observed that both nomophobia and depression levels were higher in female students. There is a relationship between nomophobia and depression and psychological well-being. Beck depression score predicts nomophobia score. It is recommended to plan trainings to raise awareness about the effective and efficient use of smart phones, which is a component of technology.
