Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı sağlık bakım hizmetleri bölümü yaşlı bakım programında öğrenim gören öğrencilerin yaşlılara yönelik tutumlarını ve bu tutumları etkileyen faktörleri belirlemektir. Gereç ve Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı olarak yürüttüğümüz bu çalışmanın örneklemini bir devlet üniversitesinin sağlık bakım hizmetleri bölümü yaşlı bakım programında öğrenim gören 257 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Araştırma verilerinin toplanmasında Yaşlılara Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği ve Öğrenci Tanılama Formu kullanılmış ve veriler Google form ile online olarak toplanmıştır. Araştırma verilerinin değerlendirilmesi Kruskal Wallis Varyans Analizi ve Mann Whitney U-testi kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Çalışmaya katılan öğrencilerin yaş ortalaması 20.18±0.94, yaşlılara yönelik tutum ölçeği toplam puanı 155.62±40.16 olarak bulunmuştur. Yaşlılara Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği ile sosyo-demografik veriler arasında cinsiyet, 1. ve 2. sınıf, aile tipi, yaşlı birey ile görüşme sıklığı ve mezuniyet sonrasında yaşlı birey ile çalışma isteği istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir fark olduğu saptanmıştır (p<0.05). Sonuç: Yaşlı bakım öğrencilerinin yaşlılara yönelik tutumları olumlu yönde olduğu belirlenmiştir. Sağlıklı aile ilişkileri olan, yaşlı ziyaretlerine giden yaşlılarla çalışmak isteyen katılımcıların yaşlılara yönelik tutumu belirgin olarak olumlu olduğu belirlenmiştir. Yaşlı bakım öğrencilerinin yaşlılarla daha fazla vakit geçirebilecek sosyal etkinlikler düzenlenmesi, öğrenciye verilen eğitimin sahada uygulama imkânının verilmesi ve toplumun yaşlılık konusunda farkındalığının arttırılması önerilmektedir. Purpose: The aim of this study was determining attitudes towards the elderly of the students in elderly care program and affectıng factors. Material and Methods: The sample of this descriptive study consisted of 257 students studying in an elderly care program in the health care services department of a state university. The Kogan AttitudesToward Old People Scale and the Student Identification Form were used to collect the research data and data were collected via Google online form. Kruskal Wallis Variance Analysis and Mann Whitney U-test were used to evaluate the research data. Results: The average age of the students was 20.18±0.94, and the total score of Kogan AttitudesToward Old People Scale was 155.62±40.16. It was found a statistically significant difference between the socio-demographic data of the Attitude Scale towards the Elderly and gender, 1st and 2nd grade, family type, frequency of meeting with the elderly person and the desire to work with the elderly person after graduation (p <0.05). Conclusion: It was determined that elderly care students' attitudes towards the elderly were positive. Participants who have healthy family relationships and want to work with elderly people and who visit elderly people have a positive attitude towards elderly people. It is recommended to organize social activities for elderly care students to spend more time with the elderly, to give the students the opportunity to implement their education in the field, and to increase the awareness of the society on aging.
