En genel anlamda Yahudi düşmanlığı olarak tanımlanan antisemitizm olgusu, Antik dönemden bu yana insanlığı meşgul eden ve yazın alanında da azımsanmayacak ölçüde anlatılaştırılan konular arasındaki yerini almıştır. 19.yüzyıl ise, o döneme kadar dinsel önyargılarla beslenen Yahudi düşmanlığının, dönemin siyasal ve toplumsal kimi değişimlere uğramasıyla birlikte ırkçı bir yapıya dönüşmesi açısından önemli bir role sahiptir. “Görev ve Mülk” (1855) adlı romanı ve “Gazeteciler” (1854) adlı oyunuyla antisemitizmin 19. yüzyıl Alman edebiyatındakiçarpıcı örneklerini veren Alman yazar Gustav Freytag (1816-1895), o zamana değin Almanya’da irdeleme açısından daha ziyade eleştiri türüyle sınırlı tutulan antisemitizm olgusunu 19. yüzyıl Alman edebiyatında yazınsallaştıran ilk yazarlardan olma özelliğini taşımaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı da, Freytag’ın “Gazeteciler” oyunu üzerinden 19. yüzyıl Alman edebiyatında görünürleşen Yahudi algısını irdelemektir. Söz konusu çalışmada yöntem olarak ise Yahudi algısının, irdelenecek oyunda Yahudi bir karakter olarak karşımıza çıkan Schmock’a ilişkin analiz üzerinden değerlendirileceğinden ve söz konusu analizin, Yahudilere 19. yüzyıldaki yaklaşım temel alınarak yapılacağından dolayı metni içkin ve edebiyat sosyolojik yöntemden yararlanmanın uygun olduğu görülmüştür.
The anti-Semitism phenomenon, defined in the most general sense as Jewish hostility, has taken its place among the topics that have occupied mankind since ancient times and have been described to a extent that will not be minimized in the field of summer. The 19th century, however, plays an important role in the transformation of the Jewish hostility, which was fed by religious prejudices until that time, into a racist structure with some political and social changes in the period. The German writer Gustav Freytag (1816-1895), who with his novel "Mission and Property" (1855) and his play "Journalists" (1854) gave the devastating examples of anti-Semitism in the 19th-century German literature, so far in Germany the anti-Semitism phenomenon was kept limited to the type of criticism. It is one of the first writers in German literature. The aim of this study is also to raise Freytag’s Jewish perception that appeared in the 19th-century German literature through the game “Reporters”. As a method in this study, the Jewish perception will be assessed by the analysis of Schmock as a Jewish character in the game, and the analysis is based on the 19th-century approach to the Jews, and it is appropriate to use the text and literary sociological method.
