Abstract:

Feminism, which emerged as a result of women's struggle for equal rights, status and freedoms with men, has been one of the most discussed issues today over the issue of women and gender. After the 1960s, feminism, which advocates the elimination of gender discrimination, injustices suffered by women and the elimination of oppression, has undergone epistemological transformations over time, and after these transformations, new discourses have emerged that defend the need to protect the rights of not only women but also LGBTs. Feminist discourses have not only remained as an idea, but have also been supported by many artists who have established themselves in the art environment. In our country, it is possible to come across many artists who exhibit feminist approaches in the contemporary art environment or that we can show within the feminist movement. Within the scope of the limitation of the research, Şükran Moral, Özlem Şimşek, Füsun Onur, Nilbar Güreş, Mehtap Baydu were determined. In the research, it was observed that the artists mostly focused on themes such as identity, sexuality, gender, gender inequality, racism, and the commodification of the female body. In this context, the reflections of the concept of feminism on contemporary art were created through postmodern strategies such as pastiche, irony, appropriation, parody, and metaphor; It has been concluded that the works are mostly handled with art practices such as installation, video, performance and photography.
