Abstract:

The Kahramanmaras-centered earthquakes, which occurred on February 6, 2023 and affected 11 provinces, are one of the most destructive and significant events in Turkey's disaster history. It is aimed that this study will contribute to the literature by presenting the difficulty of the earthquake area, the diversity of needs of earthquake victims, the organization of the aid environment and the functioning of the activities. The research was carried out with the participation of survey questionnaires collected from 48 different NGOs and interview questionnaires with 21 field workers. While a survey was used for the quantitative view of the services based on institutional information provided by NGOs in the region, their experiences in the field were taken from the participants who participated in the interview. According to all these, the data obtained are explained with a total of 12 sub-themes. 12 sub-themes were categorized under 3 themes. As a result, it was understood that field workers had similar impressions on many points, as well as different perspectives and ideas. Common results obtained; It provided information about the needs of the earthquake region during the process, the communication between the central and local government, and the cooperation between NGOs.
