This paper aims to analyse the text “Lear” by Edward Bond, in the light of J. Campbell’s “Hero’s Journey” monomyth and archetypical items of Jung, which theoretically provide a basis it. According to Campbell, the “Hero’s Journey” monomyth has unchanging structural characteristics in fairy tales, heroic stories, rituals and ceremonies of all primitive or modern societies, whether in the East or in the West. In this respect, while the structure of Campbell’s monomyth is clear, enabling varied analyses for many classical dramatic texts, the question of what it will mean for the analyses of contemporary texts, that have more complicated and intangible characteriscs, such as Bond’s Lear, constitutes the essential source motivation and problematic of this study.
