Ortaçağ Türk-İslam Devletleri içerisinde en güçlü ve nüfuzlu devletlerden birisini teşkil eden Memlûk Devleti, 1250-1517 yılları arasında Mısır ve Suriye’de hâkimiyet sürmüştür. Bu devlet, sahip olduğu bazı özellikleri sebebiyle Türk-İslam Devletleri’nden farklılık göstermektedir. Memlûk Devleti’ni, diğer devletlerden farklı kılan ve tarihlerini de bir bakıma ilgi çekici yapan sebepler ise; öncelikle onların, Sultanlık makamı gibi devletin üst düzey görevlerinde yer almalarından önceki süreç içerisinde, köle kimliğine sahip olmalarıdır. Ayrıca memlûk sisteminin en mütekâmil bir şekilde uygulandığı Memlûk Devleti’nde, saltanat için veraset sistemi yani saltanatın babadan oğula intikali anlayışı bulunmamaktaydı. Son olarak, askeri bir karaktere sahip olan Memlûk Devleti, etnik menşei, dil vs. her bakımdan kendilerinden farklı olan bir topluma, 267 sene hükmedip, esasında ait olmadıkları ancak hâkim oldukları sahaların sosyal, ekonomik ve kültürel bakımlardan gelişimine katkı sağlamışlardır. Biz bu çalışma ile Memlûklerin yöneticisi oldukları Mısır ve Suriye sahasında, yerli halk üzerinde nasıl hâkimiyet ve nüfuz sağladıklarını yöneten yönetilen ilişkisi bağlamında izah etmeye çalışacağız.
The Middle Ages Turkish-Islamic State, one of the strongest and most influential states in the Middle Ages, dominated Egypt and Syria between 1250-1517. This state differs from the Turkish-Islamic States due to some of its characteristics. The reasons that make the home state different from other states and make its history interesting in a way are, first of all, that they have the slave identity in the process before they take part in the state’s high-level duties, such as the Sultanate authority. Also, in the country where the home system was applied in the most contradictory way, there was no veracet system for the kingdom, i.e. the kingdom of the father to the son. Finally, the home state, which has a military character, ethnic origin, language, etc. They have ruled a society that is different from themselves in all respects for 267 years and have contributed to the social, economic and cultural development of the areas where they do not belong, but where they rule. With this study, we will try to explain in the context of the governed relationship in the field of Egypt and Syria where the Maldives are the rulers, how they provide sovereignty and influence over the indigenous people.
